Brad began his baseball career in El Dorado's City Recreation League, playing for six years. A left fielder for Coach Brad Long at El Dorado High School, Brad was a member of the El Dorado High School 1990 State Championship team, 1991 second place team and 1992 third place team. Brad was selected by league coaches to the Ark Valley first team in 1992.
Following high school, Brad played center field for the Butler County Community College Grizzlies for two years. The team appeared in the 1994 World Series, placing third. The 1994 team won the Jayhawk West title and Regional title.
Fort Hays State Tigers was the next stop in Brad's baseball career. Under his leadership, the team won the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title. Brad received Honorable Mention All-Conference and was named to the Phillips 66 All-American team as a first team selection.
To round out his baseball career, Brad was a member of the 1996 El Dorado Broncos when they won the National Baseball Congress World Series.
